Major Saver Campaign:  January 8th-23rd

Please consider participating in the Major Saver campaign. Our students, school, and district will benefit from every card sold.  Half of the money raised directly benefits William Bryant Elementary, and half benefits the Blue Springs Education Foundation. The Blue Springs Education Foundation supports district students, staff, and schools in various ways, such as classroom grants, scholarships, and assistance for students in need.

Personal Electronic Device Reminders
Personal Electronic Devices
(See Board Policy, 5.64.2(b)(2), Possession of Personal Electronic Communication Devices, January 2023)
The possession and use of a student or parent/legal guardian owned personal electronic device (PED) is a privilege, not a right. The district may revoke the privilege of possessing and using PEDs at any time at its sole discretion. The district is not responsible for lost or stolen PEDs, whether in student or district possession, or any damage to the PED, its programs, or its contents. No student should use a PED during the school day or during any school sponsored activity unless the student has first read and signed the Student Technology Resources Acceptable Use and Procedure policy. PEDs may be brought to school but must be stored or carried out of sight in an off or silent mode and shall not be used by students during the school day or while being transported by a district vehicle. PEDs may not be used to capture or share sound, video, document or photo images at any time or anywhere during the school day or while being transported in a district vehicle without the prior approval of administrators or staff. PEDs may not be used to capture or share sound, video, or photo images of staff. In addition PEDs may not be used to capture or share sound, document or photo images at any other time, place, or school sponsored activity when a person (including, but not limited to, students, staff, parents, volunteers, and guests) has an expectation of privacy which shall include, but not be limited to a locker room, restroom, dressing room or any other location where a person may be changing clothes or engaged in personal or private activities.

Lunch Visitors & Background Check Information

Lunch Visitors

To help maintain a safe and orderly school environment, we ask for your cooperation by adhering to the guidelines below:

  • Please use the link below to sign up to eat lunch with your student. Guests must sign up at least 24 hours in advance. This helps us better accommodate our guests and seating.
  • The sign up time is the start of lunchtime, so please plan to arrive a few minutes early to allow time to check in at the main office. Once appointments are full, a different open date must be selected. Please do not select another time, as each grade level has its own lunch time.
  • Please allow time to check in at the front office. A photo ID will be requested.
  • Once properly checked in, visitors must wear a visitor sticker while in the building.
  • Visitors and their student(s) will have a designated eating area in our building. Once the student’s lunch period is over, all visitors must leave the building and are not allowed to walk their student to the classroom or attend recess.
  • Some dates are blocked due to school activities/events.
  • If you have multiple students, you must sign up for each student’s check-in time.

All lunch visitors must complete the online lunch guest/volunteer background screening application at least five days before their first visit. This process must be completed each year. Information regarding the background management system has been sent in the weekly emails.

Volunteer Application Procedure
The Blue Springs School District has partnered with the local company DataSource to enhance and strengthen our current background screening process for Volunteer Guests. It is FREE, SECURE, and SIMPLE to register. Please go to https://bssd.quickapp.pro. Click on the building in which you are planning to volunteer. (If you have students attending multiple buildings, you will only need to complete one application. After completing the application, please contact the Building School Resource Officer for the school you applied at and let them know you have students at additional locations).  Volunteer applications MUST be submitted at least five (5) days before the event for which you are volunteering.  After submission, please wait for an email from DataSource. The email will let you know whether you have been approved or denied.

Although this process will prevent an individual from volunteering for school activities like PTA events, field trips, or lunch, it will NOT prevent a parent/guardian from partnering with the school to attend their child’s events such as parent-teacher conferences, school performances, or family nights. This process is solely for those Volunteer Guests that could have the potential of working with or being involved with students who are not their own. Individuals receiving and reviewing initial background check information will maintain the confidentiality of any documentation received. If an initial review shall provide cause for a more detailed review of background information, only those individuals with a need to obtain personally identifiable information shall have access to such information.
